Garbologie is born

Today (Friday) I signed the papers that mark the birth of Garbologie Pty Ltd. Born on 15 January 2013, Garbologie is now a company. Yippee!!!

A company is born.

To celebrate we had an old friend over for drinks. Well, not quite - he was always coming over. He is good to have around, having been in business for himself for the past 20 years. He knows the ups and downs of personal energy levels, seeing it as a 7 year cycle. Kind of explains why I'm over local government after 7 years.

I didn't actually spend much of the day reveling. In fact, I felt under a fair bit of pressure to get some work done around the glass project. To be honest, I felt a bit strung out. I've been:

  • Sorting out the financial model. The scale of the glass project is too big for me to fund myself, and so I need to get investors on board. I needed to suss out if the financial model makes sense for investors. It does.
  • Making travel arrangements. I've been trying to find an opening to have a good close look at the plant, and can do it on Monday and Tuesday. So urgent plans made to tee up travel, stay with my sister in Brisbane, arrange meetings. Sorted now.
  • Thinking through how it all hangs together. The glass project is a great opportunity inserted unexpectedly. I need to make it work.

I also heard back from the lovely +Clare S. Properjohn at +The Creative Arts House regarding a piece I'd prepared to attract people to come on the Garbologie journey. They've reworked it, woven a bit more of the Garbologie personality into it. The final version will soon be available for release into the wild.

Finally, I pulled together a quick proposal to provide consulting support to coordinate e-waste collection sites here in Perth. Not to do the collections, but to help the Melbourne based Infoactiv find sites over here for the collections to be run.
