What is Garbologie?
We want to create a world without waste.
Seriously. We believe that waste is a failure of imagination, a lack of courage, a support of mediocrity. We hate to see dumb things done in the name of the status quo.
Waste is a waste and Garbologie will change the world to get rid of it.
Let's stake out our territory here. We're for creativity, courage, excellence. If you don't get this, you're not part of Garbologie. That's fine, we are not for everybody. But we will not justify ourselves, we will not accept your lack of belief, we refuse to accept your arguments. We are.
How will Garbologie do this?
Garbologie will build businesses that make waste into products for remanufacturing. We will build businesses with great people, businesses that engage and energise people. Our people will own equity in Garbologie. We will become a movement.
We believe that the waste industry has gone down a one way street that leads to big expensive, hegemonic waste processing plants. They ignore the individual and treat everything as one. The Garbologie way is to treat every material as something unique and valuable and to play, play, play with ideas until we find an answer, a use, a purpose.
We have fun with what we do. We communicate. We pay very close attention to detail, because god is in the details. It is in the details that we can find solutions that others miss. It is in the details that we make our customers happy, make products from waste and change the world.
We're not about wafty ideals, we're about taking those ideals and making them real. We're also about new ways of business. We are a swarm, a network, a hub through which great things are done. We attract people who believe, who want to do good, and foster, nurture, build on this passion. We are all for the new world, the connected world, the world where people build each other up rather than trample others down. We are for real.
What’s next for Garbologie?
We’re setting down a broad foundation from which to develop. We’re creating four distinct businesses that deliver on currently pressing needs in Perth
- Glass processing: A glass fines clean-up and grinding plant, making powders for sale into fibreglass, termite barrier, water filtration, brick making and other markets.
- Tip/Shop: For self-haul waste, offering a great customer experience and reselling, recycling and dismantling waste received.
- Mattress processing: Dismantling mattresses to recover steel and foam
- Consulting: Providing waste management advice to create a world without waste.
There’s immense opportunity in each of these businesses for the right people.
Garbologie will end up everywhere materials go, and so we are setting down a substantial base. Each of these four businesses is able to morph into new businesses doing new things. We don't need to work everything out. We are a movement, not a plan. We set a direction, not a path. We are our future.
We know we’re in for a battle with the suits, the bureaucrats and the boring people who’d rather stick their heads in the sand than challenge the prevailing authority. We’re waste warriors. We’re looking for people who are willing to wave the banner for a waste-free future and ride into battle in the boardrooms, living rooms and parliament rooms of Australia.
And yep, we realise this won't be trouble free. We will have our detractors, those who want the safety of the way things have always been, the vested interests. We will take the fight to them, not by pursuing that fight, but by being unwavering in our beliefs. We are not going away.
How do you fit in?
A great business needs great people and we’re looking for great people willing to change the world through waste. We’re looking for entrepreneurs, risk-takers, thrill-seekers and believers. You’re ready to have a crack at making a difference and making something magnificent - we need to talk.
Garbologie is an opportunity on the move and we should talk sooner rather than later. Even if you are not ready for the opportunity just yet, we can learn what you need, what you want, when you might be ready. We can work around what you need to work with you when the timing is right.
Are you ready to change the world? Can you imagine a world without waste? Are you willing to fight for our purpose, defend our vision and fly the banner for a waste free future?
If you see this, if you can catch this vision, if this speaks to everything you are, we want to talk to you. If this speaks to somebody you know, we want you to pass it on. Even if you don't think you have the skills you think we need, speak with us. WE don't even know what we need. We are all about the right people. We are you.
Nice website, absolutely love the energy in here, and yes about time something gets done. I am just spent over a decade in the UK and after what I saw is done with the waste there I took a flight straight back to India, where I believe the opportunities are huge. Just that no one wants to get their hands dirty or should I say no one sees waste as I do.
ReplyDeleteI got myself a job in a waste management firm (start-up) and have been chasing municipalities to give us a contract for plastic waste handling for over a year. Frankly, no one gives a toss cos they're themselves unsure about the end solutions. I know there is a need for a radical change in people's mindsets in dealing with waste but not one person is willing to be that leader. Anyway, no point in writing a book of my experiences. The point is are you guys willing to share your ideas with me and guide me as to what exactly can be done with any kind of waste, i mean regular waste being turned into things that people will buy and then perhaps realise its value. What I lack in experience I will give back double in enthusiasm so no issues there. s.banik@hotmail.com.
Of course, happy to help. You know, we don't actually have all of the answers, but we are working them out as we go. And hunting through the internet to find great examples that we can share. I do this via my Scoop.it magazine.
DeleteWhat do you think? Do we do learn at this together?
